I cant believe that after 6 chemos, you are still looking for happiness in the outside world (even if it is baseball cards). Sit still in a quite, semi dark room, little bit chilly and just observe your breathing, which is exactly keeping you alive and making you experience the joy/pain/lust/etc. If you are lucky, you will experience the true happiness before you lose your breath...in other words...death.

Re: Life is like a pack of baseball cards.

awesome how mark suster posted this link up... it was a treat, and unexpected. hope we can all recapture some of that joy we all had... or at the very least, as they say, be the blessing.

Re: Life is like a pack of baseball cards.

Thanks for sharing. I'll blame something on it soon. We're in the process of moving and SOMETHING will happen. For about 10 years now I've been picking stuff up from the sidewalks... Started in Sausalito, CA and now I do it in Philly. I've got jars and jars of stuff that I enjoy looking at, remembering days, events, non-events. But the BEST thing!?!?! Zipper pulls. Love them. I have jars dedicated to zipper pulls. Keys. and spiral-shaped things... and then everything else lives together. Seeing a zipper pull on the sidewalk means it's going to be a great day.

Re: Life is like a pack of baseball cards.

wow! Thanks for sharing.

I made a decision a few years ago based along the same lines. I got back into minor hockey as a coach. It fills that void that so many of us don't realize we have.

I wrote an article about it for the paper I was working at a few years ago - it's reproduced on my site for anyone who's interested (I won't bother spamming the link so if you can't find it and want to, let me know). In a nutshell, it's all about rediscovering that 'zest,' as you so aptly described it.

It's all about the little things. Good on you for reminding us of that.
