You are an inspiration to me. My husband is 26 and has Stage 2 Hodgkin's Lymphoma. It is so important to keep a sense of humor and I thank you for spreading that message.

I'm proud to be one of the 14k people that blamed your cancer (and blame I did, a few dozen times at least). Rest assured, you may only know a few hundred of the blamers personally but we're all honoured to have played a small part in your recovery.

Keep kicking cancer's ass, man. Huge congrats for this important milestone.

Take that, cancer! You kick ass, Drew.

I have radiation #3 (of 5) tomorrow, after major surgery in August for uterine cancer. The surgery took all the tumor, and the radiation is "just" preventative. I will call myself a survivor after the 5th treatment on 11/17.

Here's to you and survivors everywhere! Rock on!

Never knowing the right thing to say to a person with cancer, I've watched from the sidelines as you took this journey. You're a remarkably brave and resilient young man, Drew; I'm ashamed that I didn't tell you sooner. And I want to thank you for letting those of us who stand by in awkward silence know that it's okay to talk about this disease with someone who has it....and sometimes to even laugh about it. I've become a fan, Drew and intend to keep up with you and your life. And I'm not following you because you had cancer and now you don't, or because you were so brave through all of it, or because you're selling your Twitter name. I'm following you because I like you and what you stand for, Drew.
    Blessings....

I wish I'd known about your cancer six months ago when BlameDrewsCancer started because I could have blamed your damn cancer for so much! But I'm still going to go tweet right now and blame your cancer for something.

God bless you and your positive outlook. My mom did 6 chemo treatments 3 weeks apart and she was totally devastated by them so I can only imagine what 12 treatments in 6 months would do. Way to go man, you get mad props.
  • joannhenry · 1 month ago
Your fight has given me the strength to continue my fight. I thought that losing my mom to cancer after a 2 1/2 year battle was the end of it. But I miss her so much every day. Being part of you community has helped me heal so much. It gives me a place to vent my anger, and a place to share my love as well. You have touched and changed me life. Feel well!!!

Yippee! That is so awesome! It's great to hear of someone telling cancer where to go and giving it directions on how to get there. You are incredibly strong; not only for what you went through but for sharing it with the world like this. Way to go, hope you get to feeling 100% soon.

Drew, Your outlook on this topic is so positive I felt my heart bursting with joy! What a wonderful man you are.....a wonderful positive and great human being. Your experience as a survivor gives plenty of hope to all others. I hope pray for your recovery; and hope the best for you and those who love you. Cancer is not a friend to anybody but you've been an inspiration from this tragedy and gained a milestone of new friends you probably didn't even realize you had; so out of it a huge number of people cheering for you! Your bigger than Maximus!! Have a good day......a wishing friend and someone who knows a little about cancer. Lynette...

you are a true inspiration Drew, and it just shows with the love and care of those who matter, anything is possible. It has given me hope for people I know who have to deal with cancer, and that it can, and will be beaten. Thank you Drew. You are a true hero.
  • ChristinaRene · 1 month ago
Hey Drew - I am so happy for you and for your courageous battle that you have fought and are currently fighting against cancer. You have been able to do this with so many people behind you supporting you all the way. How awesome is that?...and with people that you don't know...people just like me. However, I have to say that cancer has caused so much pain, suffering, and death that it should have no place in the words..."Good Reasoning". I am the person that you meet that says, "There's a reason for EVERYTHING!" AND, I truly believe that with all my heart.

Cancer has attacked my family with many different disguises; Brain Cancer, Cervical Cancer, and now just recently, Breast Cancer. I come from a BIG family. My Grandmother and Grandfather had 15 children (no Twins) all single healthy live births, 8 girls and 7 boys. Cancer has killed my Grandfather, my Uncle, attacked my Mother in two forms, several aunts, and cousins and has now attacked one of my aunts with breast cancer.

My reason for saying this....Cancer, although cold and heartless, has brought us so close together and has given the term, "The worst things in life can bring you closer together to the ones you love", a whole new meaning.

There's a reason for your battle and only God knows why, he allows things to happen to us for a reason, a very good reason because God is Good! I know there’s nothing GOOD about Cancer (I Know FIRST HAND!) but Everything is GOOD about GOD and you are in his hands…that is if you want to be. You have that choice; he gave it to you…Now you chose.

He can beat Cancers butt…ONLY Him! May God Bless You…ALWAYS! =0)

chemo brain, it has been 2 years since I finished chemo and I still have moments of HUH? I don't mind losing my breasts to cancer, they were heavy. I do mind that my potty belly is no longer chamoflauged and sticks OUT! Where did that come from. Phenergen was my best friend throughout chemo. I slept through the first 4 days. Who needs to be awake when you want to puke. I am glad to hear you are finished with chemo. No one should go through chemo alone. I couldn't do it. My mom had to move in with me for 3 LONG months.

Oh, I almost forgot. What else helped was my pink Nintendo DS. It was mindless fun and kept me busy while sitting in doctors' offices. I have one year down and four to go before I am considered cured. Wait until your hair starts to grow in. That was fun seeing the 'new' hair. I had curly hair for the first time in my life. After awhile it went back to its normal straight self.

You're an amazing and courageous person to put yourself and your feelings out into the world. I can appreciate your positivity because without that there is no hope. I survived a near terminal blood disorder when I was 13 and through the support of my parents and prayer and positive thinking, I beat it. I'm now 50 and staying healthy through alternative preventative medicine (acupuncture, network chiropractic care and feldenkrais). You go Drew, rest up, gather your strength (physically, mentally, emotionally) and continue on your path to getting well and staying well. God Bless You.

Drew, congrats on having chemo behind you and Happy Birthday next week! I'm still working on radiation. Today was #8/16. Almost there after Stage II Hodgkin's. We're survivors the second they tell us we have cancer, because we don't let cancer take us down. We're taking it down! I found some fleece sheets this week and have vowed to buy every cancer patient I know a set. No one knows except us what chemo does to you, how it makes you feel. My hair (when I had it) even hurt. Keep on keepin' on, man! God bless you.
